How We Build Quailty Gates
Our gate building process usually takes two to three weeks from the first appointment through installation of your custom driveway gate.
Step 1: Understanding Your Needs
We can provide a quote based on information recieved by phone our through our quote form on the contacts page.
Next, we meet face-to-face to discuss the design of your gate and review the area where your gate will be installed.
This step is very important, because every person's needs and desired style is different. We also take into account things like:
- The location of electric power
- Surrounding trees that may block sunlight from a solar panel
- The slope of your driveway and the surrounding terrain
- Nearby landscaping and/or buildings which the gate should match
- Any special needs or other things that might affect the gate design
With all the above information, we modify the gate design to meet your exact needs and provide a price quote.
Step 2: Strong Posts for Good Foundation
Once the driveway gate design is selected, the next step is to "set the posts."
- We dig holes for the main posts 5 feet deep. This gives a strong foundation so we can guarantee your gate will never sag for as long you own it.
- All posts are made of 5" square steel tube, 3/8" thick for strength.
- Your gate posts are acid washed and dipped in primer for a long rust-free life.
Once the posts are set, the area is carefully measured to insure a perfect fit for your gate.
Step 3: Building a Quality Gate
To build a quality driveway gate:
- We start with high quality 3/4" square metal tubing for the vertical bars and 1-1/4" square tubing for the frame and crossmembers so your driveway gate won't sag
- The metal is precision cut to insure a perfect fit
- If desired, an arch for the gate is formed on our state of the art bending machine. This creates a smooth, wrinkle-free bend that maintains the strength of the metal
- The metal pieces are pressure washed to remove any oil, resulting in quality welds that will last for years
- Your gate is assembled and measurements are double checked to insure accuracy
- Your gate is arc welded, so it will hold together as a unit for years
Step 4: Paint - Your Gate's Protection
Preparation and painting are critical to a long-lasting gate.
- After your gate is built, it is acid-washed to insure proper adhesion of the paint
- Your gate is then dipped in anti-rust primer so every part of the gate is fully coated
- When the primer is dry, the gate is spray painted in the color of your choice
Step 5: Installing Your Driveway Gate
Once the gate is built, we make an appointment for final installation.
During the final installation, these final steps are taken to insure a quality gate:
- The posts are spray painted to match your gate
- The gate and any surrounding fence sections are installed
- The gate opener is installed, along with the solar panel or electrical connections
- The gate and opener are adjusted and tested to insure proper operation
- The area is completely cleaned up, so your gate looks great from day one
